ABOUT

Let’s have some fun–here is some information about me (Patricia Zell) in a trivia format:

  • I grew up in Columbus, Ohio and graduated from the Ohio State University with a degree in Elementary Education.
  • My quest to know and understand God and the Bible began when I was a freshman at OSU.
  • During my second year of teaching, I married my husband.
  • I left teaching to raise our family—which grew to include seven children—as a stay-at-home mother.
  • While at home, I found time to continue my quest to know and understand God and the Bible as I spent countless hours with my Bibles, a concordance, a dictionary, and God.

  • When our last two children were small, I took a couple of courses to hone my writing skills.
  • After discovering I was not a novelist—I hated writing long descriptions—I focused on writing articles, on commercial writing, and on developing book proposals about the understandings I was gaining from God. (Thankfully, none of the book proposals “took” … my understandings were not mature enough at that time.)
  • After about ten years of working on my writing, I was offered a position as a high school English teacher,  and I returned to the classroom (our youngest was in middle school).
  • During the first several years of teaching, I was also taking college courses to become licensed in English Language Arts 7-12 and to earn my master’s degree in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment.
  • Once I had rested up from the effort of earning my teaching credentials and my graduate degree, I began the first round of blog posts about God’s absolute love and went on to self-publish those posts as a book.
  • Eighteen months after the book was released, my husband passed away, and I decided to retire from the classroom at the end of that school year.
  • The next fall, I decided to learn the craft of screenwriting in order to tell my romantic stories, and I continued to bug God for the answers to my questions (I never run out of questions).
  • Currently, I have seven scripts in various stages of development with the first romantic script in the process of being shopped to producers/directors/acting talent.
  • I’m also ready for the second round of blog posts about what I am learning from God, so here goes …
